Is food individually wrapped or sealed in the Federal Air Lounge?
Yes‚ all catering in the lounge is sealed individually by our catering supplier. We also serve our beverages in either cans or sealed bottles.
Are Federal Airlines doing any screening before the flight?
For our Domestic flights‚ we don't perform screenings. This is because our departure lounge is not an exit or entry point into or out of South Africa. For our international flights‚ we make use of a designated Port of entry and exit. The Port of Health controls this‚ and screenings are carried out by the designated airport regularly.
Have Federal Airlines reviewed how and when you clean the aircraft‚ bathrooms or lounge?
Yes‚ we have implemented additional ground operation procedures to ensure that aircraft‚ bathrooms and lounge areas are cleaned and disinfected with prescribed materials and at regular intervals.
Do Federal Airlines have any measures in place to improve hygiene at the lounge and on the plane? For example‚ hand sanitiser‚ signs‚ etc.?
Yes‚ we have. Hand sanitisers are available at the check-in counter‚ in the lounge‚ and in all bathrooms. We equip all aircraft with masks‚ gloves and sanitisers for use by guests and staff alike.
What is your process if there is a guest that shows any symptoms of the virus?
We are obliged to and would follow the protocol prescribed to us by IATA and SACAA‚ which is very clear. Should you require a copy of the procedures‚ please do not hesitate to request it from us‚ and we'll forward it to you.
Any other insight or measures in place to effectively manage this?
We ensure that we stay apprised of all WHO briefings and changes. We also attend regular SACAA or any Coronavirus workshops. Our policies relating to the Coronavirus will be reviewed or updated weekly or daily to ensure that we have done everything to secure the health of our guests.
